Chiang Dao

Wat Tham Chiang Dao is located at the foothills of Doi Luang Mountain in Chiang Dao. While the temple complex contains many structures, its two main highlights are an 800-year-old pagoda and the cave temple, whose entrance is surrounded by a large koi pond.

The cave system extends approximately 5 miles (11 kilometers), with the main cave serving as the temple’s principal sanctuary. Inside, you will find a lifelike statue of Luang Pu Sim and a reliquary enshrining his sacred remains. Beyond the main sanctuary, a hill tribe guide will lead you for approximately one hour through fascinating and often beautifully decorated cave passages.
