The large wetland
Exploring this expansive wetland and surrounding jungle, with no tourists and only a handful of locals, is often described as “the most memorable part of the Thailand vacation.”
Experience the beauty and tranquility of this natural, pristine environment, home to some of Thailand’s most diverse species of birds and fish. This watershed, surrounded by steep and complex mountain ranges stretching from north to south, serves as the source of the Mae Puem and Mae Kaeo rivers, which flow into Kwan Phayao Lake.

The Buffalo Village
The unique lifestyle of Buffalo Village, located in Mae Chai District, serves as a conservation center preserving traditional Thai farming culture. The village originated with the people of San Sali, many of whom were rice farmers and traditional fishermen living around Nong Leng Sai Lake.
More than 20 years ago, villagers recognized the importance of preserving their traditional way of life, which is closely connected to Thai buffaloes. They formed conservation groups to protect native Thai cattle and buffaloes from disappearing due to increasing agricultural mechanization.
For one magical day and evening, you can participate in the simple and authentic lifestyle of this local community.
This tour offers multiple modes of transportation, including a private boat to maximize the experience. You can choose to fish alongside the boat captain deep within the wetlands or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, far from foreign tourists.

The Tour
This awesome tour begins with a visit to a brand-new temple handcrafted by local sculptors.
Wat Pa Phutthachinwongsaram, also known as Mon Phayanak, features a 280-meter (900-foot) long and 45-meter (150-foot) tall Naga serpent sculpture. The stunning interior decorations create the feeling of being inside the belly of this sacred serpent.
Next, we will take a scenic ride along back roads and around the lake, exploring areas that even many locals rarely visit, before stopping for lunch.

Doi Busarakham

Kwan Phayao Lake scenic drive
The final stop is Doi Busarakham’s Wat Analayo Thipyarama, a beautiful mountaintop temple built by the monk Phra Ajarn Paiboon Sumangkalo.
The temple offers a serene atmosphere and stunning architecture that blends various artistic styles. Parts of the complex are nestled within the forest, creating an Angkor Wat-like atmosphere while providing breathtaking views of Phayao Lake.
It is also an important destination for meditation and spiritual practice.

Finally, it’s off to dinner and live music at a local fine dining establishment with a beautiful sunset view.
