About Better Travel Thailand | Private & Custom Thailand Tours

The Founder | Meet Suphansa
Suphansa holds degrees in both Accounting and Education. Before becoming a high school teacher, she worked in security for the police department.
She has been riding motorcycles since she was 14 years old, and as the family story goes, she was practically born on one. In addition to being an experienced rider, Suphansa is also a skilled sidecar operator and motorcycle mechanic.
Raised in the Theravada Buddhist tradition, Suphansa has traveled extensively throughout Northern Thailand, where she has family and close friends in many hill tribe communities. She is also fluent in the Northern Thai dialect, giving her unique access to regions and cultures that many visitors never experience.
While her English isn’t perfect, she more than makes up for it with her understanding of Western culture, humor, slang, and everyday expressions. Having traveled to the United States twice and been married to a California surfer for six years, she easily bridges the gap between Thai and Western cultures, helping guests feel comfortable while experiencing the authentic Thailand that she calls home.

Our American Consultant | Meet Frank
- Frank brings more than four decades of adventure, travel, and cross-cultural experience to Better Travel Thailand.
- He served as a travel guide and interpreter in Italy for six years and has traveled to or lived in 38 countries over the past 23 years, giving him a deep understanding of both international travel and the expectations of Western visitors.
- A lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, Frank earned a technical degree in motorcycle mechanics and has owned 38 motorcycles. Over the past 45 years, he has ridden more than 1,000,000 miles, including 30 years without owning an automobile, making motorcycles his primary means of transportation.
- Safety is always a priority. Frank has completed Combat Lifesaver training and is certified in CPR and First Aid.
- For the past 25 years, Frank has studied and practiced Buddhism, culminating in five years living alone on the edge of the jungle in Northern Thailand. During that time, he also lived alongside Buddhist monks and a respected Buddhist philosopher and teacher, attended multiple Vipassana meditation retreats, and participated in countless temple ceremonies, providing him with a genuine understanding of Thai Buddhist culture that extends far beyond tourism.
- His martial arts background includes training in Muay Thai, Tae Kwon Do, and Hapkido.
- Frank is also a certified fitness professional through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), the American Council on Exercise (ACE), and the International Fitness Professionals Association (IFPA). In addition, he founded a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching health and fitness programs to public schools and members of the U.S. military.
Note: Many of these activities and jobs ran concurrently.

Why choose BTT ? How we can deliver ?
True flexibility
100% Flexible. 100% Private.
Change your itinerary at any time, for any reason, as time and availability permit. Every tour is completely private, with a maximum of two guests traveling together. You’ll never share your guide, vehicle, or experience with strangers.
Raw authentic travel
We maintain a network of local contacts in villages throughout Thailand who keep us informed about upcoming activities and events, including festivals, Muay Thai fights, weddings, and even the rare opportunity to attend a monk’s funeral—experiences where English is rarely spoken and tourists are seldom seen.
With Better Travel Thailand, you’re not just a spectator—you have the opportunity to be part of the experience. We travel the back roads far from the tourist crowds, stopping whenever something catches your eye, whether it’s a roadside food stall, a local market, a unique gift shop, or an unexpected moment that simply feels worth exploring.
Minimal tourists
By living locally, we often find the same popular sightseeing attractions at alternative locations, often hours away from the VIP vans and double-decker buses. Others wait in line just to have 30 seconds to take a photo surrounded by tourists, visit hill tribe communities that cater to English-speaking visitors, and eat where the bus driver earns a commission. Sometimes there is no alternative to a “must-see” attraction, so we simply choose the best days and times to visit or pay extra for private access so you don’t have to be part of a group.
There’s a Better Way to Experience Thailand
Most tours follow the same formula.
Large groups. Fixed schedules. Tourist hotspots. Rushed itineraries. Little flexibility.
You spend as much time waiting for other people as you do enjoying the experience.
Better Travel Thailand was created to change that.
We don’t believe the best memories are made by following a flag through crowded attractions.
We believe they’re found down quiet back roads, in hidden temples, family-run restaurants, local celebrations, and places most visitors never discover.
Imagine a different kind of journey…
- Walking through beautiful places before the crowds arrive.
- Experiencing Thailand alongside local people—not busloads of tourists.
- Discovering hidden destinations that rarely appear in guidebooks.
- Traveling with a guide who understands both Thai culture and Western expectations.
- Changing your plans whenever inspiration strikes—with no penalties or rigid schedules.
- Having a trusted local expert available throughout your journey, whenever you need them.
- Traveling in complete comfort in our luxury adventure vehicle designed for every type of road and every unforgettable destination.
This isn’t a tour.
It’s Thailand, experienced the way it should be.
Private. Personal. Flexible. Authentic.
Every itinerary is built around you—not around a timetable.
Whether you want to explore remote villages, hidden temples, breathtaking landscapes, incredible food, or unforgettable cultural experiences, we create a journey that’s uniquely yours.
Because the best trips don’t happen on a schedule. They happen when you’re free to explore.
